Paisley Beer Festival

Paisley Beer
Festival is back for the 23rd year running! The hugely popular event
returns to the Town Hall for 4 days (starting on Wednesday the 28th
April 2010) when approximately 4000 people are expected to turn up eager to try
out the vast range of beers on offer. Last year 20,000 pints of beer and cider
were consumed over the 4 days. Amongst the thirsty customers was local
rock-star Paolo Nutini who spent the day mingling with his fellow buddies and
enjoying a few quality beers.

Run solely by roughly
50 CAMRA volunteers, the festival takes many months to organise and set up. This
year will feature approximately 170 different draught beers from all over the UK, as well as
various foreign beers, cider, perry and mead. This year the “English Bar” will
feature beers from Yorkshire and Derbyshire
again. In the “Scottish Bar” local produce will be available to try from the
Barrhead-based Kelburn Brewery and the Houston Brewery amongst others. Nearer
the time the beer list will be available at http://www.paisleybeerfestival.org.uk/beers. However please note the availability of any
beer cannot be guaranteed. There will also be food on offer, provided by the
ever-popular Melbourne Catering Co who will serve up delicious German sausages
and French crepes to soak up the beer!
Entertainment will be provided on the Friday evening (band to be confirmed) and the Caledonian Pipe Band will be returning on the Saturday to play intermittently throughout the day. As has been the case for the last several years, CAMRA Renfrewshire will be raising money for the charity, Myeloma UK. This year staff will be dressing up as “James Bond” characters and collecting cash for this very worthwhile cause.
Entry costs £5 (£3 concession on Wed/Thurs) and includes a festival glass and program. This also allows free re-entry on subsequent days (as long as you bring the glass along).
Festival Organiser, Danny Matheson, says
"Paisley Beer Festival is the place to be for all the very best real ales - and great fun and atmosphere. Our panel of experts have selected a range of beers to suit all tastes."
CAMRA volunteer, Karen Moore, says
“I’m hoping loads of Buddies will come along this year and help support this now infamous event on Paisley’s social calendar. We all work really hard to make it a success and are very proud of being Scotland's biggest beer festival. If hundreds of great beers, good food and a fantastic atmosphere aren’t enough to persuade people to come along – they shouldn’t forget the potential for punters to rub shoulders with Paolo Nutini, who was there last year”
As always the organisers desperately need more volunteers to help the festival run smoothly from set-up on the Monday right through to the Sunday take-down. If interested in helping please email Karen. N.B. Volunteers must be CAMRA members (remember you can always sign up at the festival if you are not already a member).
The costs of putting on such an event are very high and the continued success of the festival relies on sponsorship from local businesses.
Becoming a supporter of the festival through one of the sponsorship options represents excellent value and maximum local exposure. Please see the other for sponsorship options.
